Cacao Butter Cup Smoothie

Well I survived the weekend, and what a weekend it was! Lots of booze, food and laughs at the bachelorette party . . . but now let’s get back to normal. With limited options for food other than cookies, pizza and chips… moderation was key. My body is in dire need of a detox though- it’s screaming for help!

On Friday night we went out to a fried chicken place that is amazing, but limited in healthy options. That meal along with a few other unhealthy decisions turned my stomach into a rock. I haven’t felt this unhealthy in a long time.

To top it all off, after all the salt this weekend I started to crave sweets on Sunday and ended up eating a gluten free cupcake from a local bakery #treatyoself. After when I got back home, I couldn’t shake sweet craving. I had to make something to not only satisfy my hunger, but reverse the hacvic from my stomach.  I ended up making a sweet paleo smoothie for dinner that was full of protein. I figured not only would it fill me up, but satisfy the cravings – plus there is barely any sugar in this recipe so it’s the best of both worlds.

This smoothie is sweet and satisfying – plus like all smoothies, its super simple and quick! So quick I was able to make it during one commercial break of The Hobbit.

Cacao Butter Cup Smoothie

Servings 2

Time 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 banana
  • 4 tbsp almond butter
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp cacao
  • 2.5 cup almond milk (I use unsweetened – it’s less sugar than regular almond milk)

Directions

Mix all ingredients in a blender, blend until smooth.
