I know I probably say this a lot, but holy heck this was literally the longest week ever! There has been some serious highs and lows this week, and I’m so happy that its the weekend! What do we have planned for this weekend? Absolutely nothing, and I’m siked about it! Gonna get some much needed workouts/runs in, and we’re definitely heading over to the apple orchard. I mean it is fall, so why not go now?! Plus, I want to make more of this delicious recipe, so I need to stock up on my apples.
This recipe is really easy though, like most crock pot recipes. Just put the ingredients in a crock pot on low for 6 hours, and your done! The recipe is totally allergy friendly, being that is gluten free, sugar free, and paleo. So everybody can enjoy this!
If you’ve read my blog and recipes before you probably noticed that for every warm dessert or treat, I always add in cinnamon and nutmeg. Not only does it give it fantastic flavor, but it fills your house with such a magnificent sent – you won’t need to light a Yankee Candle when cooking this!
Crock Pot Apple Sauce
A must have fall recipe that’s completely paleo, gluten free, and sugar free.
- 20 medium apples (use apples that are not too sour nor too sweet)
- 1-1/4 cups water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoon maple syrup
- 1/2-1 tablespoon lemon juice (adjust depending on how sour the apples are)
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 3 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
Peel, core and slice the apples. Place the apples in the crock pot, and pour the water over them. Sprinkle with salt, and cover. Cook on low for 6 hours.
After 6 hours, stir in the rest of the ingredients. There will probably still be chunks, to make it smoother, run an immersion blender through the sauce – if you don’t have an immersion blender, just stick it in a regular blender and pulse until it’s a consistency you like.
You can store it in an air tight container in the fridge. We normally stick in an air tight mason jar, and store them for the future.
