Matcha, matcha, matcha…I’ve seen this all over my Instagram feed, so why is everyone over the moon about it? Well this Japanese green tea is gaining popularity and I’ll tell you a little why.
Well, what is matcha? Matcha is a powdered green tea that is grown in Japan. It is full of vitamins and antioxidants and is usually used in teas, smoothies and sometimes baking. There are tons of benefits of matcha, and here are a few I’d like to point out:
Matcha tea is unique compared to other teas because it has more chorlophyll than most teas which increases the content of L-Theanine (an amino acid that helps balance the caffeine). So while you get a calming aroma from drinking a tea, you also get energy. Crazy right?
This tea is loaded with antioxidants and contains over 60x the antioxidants of spinach and 7x the antioxidants of high quality dark chocolate.
Chlorophyll is a powerful detoxifying agent that cleanses body toxins. Because of this, chlorophyll gives the skin a clean and radiant glow.
Drinking Matcha has been shown to increase your metabolism, and help the body burn fat (about 4 times faster). Plus, unlike other diet aids, there are no negative side-effects to it.
These balls are simple to make, and only take 10 minutes. Just add all the ingredients to a food processor, roll up the bites, and enjoy!
2-3 of these balls are the perfect pick-me-up in the afternoon, just when I’m starting to drag (without the after effects of coffee).
